Creating the Season 4 Title Sequence

Today we uploaded for the first time, the Season 4 Title Intro. This sequence will play near the beginning of each of the 45 daily hunting videos comprising Season 4. The Intro gives us a way to keep consistent branding across each of the videos, and introduce the companies that are part of the $9,000 giveaway that we’ve assembled (so we hope you’ll take a few minutes to check out their websites).

The sequence is, essentially, just double exposures. To create it, we set up a white backdrop, and filmed several slow motion activities against that white drop. Using the white backdrop made it easy to isolate the foreground, and using a transparency mask makes the mountainous images in the background show through each of those foreground shots. A few of them were captured in the field, with lighting just right to make isolation easy enough, so we didn’t have to go through and mask it frame by frame.

In addition to the backdrop video, we also added several half-tone and grunge overlays to each of the images and set them to a Ken-Burns crop. All relatively easy to do in modern motion animators such as Adobe’s After Effects, Apple’s Motion, and I just did it all entirely within Final Cut Pro.

The music is a song called “Bad Men” by the RIVERS band. We did obtain email permission from the band to use it in our YouTube videos, and I wanted to give them as much credit as possible. We’ve used their work before, and love their sound.

Anyway, if you have any questions, shoot us an email. We hope you enjoy it.
